Can't get the 2nd wii remote to connect ...

I've purchased ghost squad and after a good 30 minutes of trying i simply can't get the 2nd remote to connect to the wii console. I replaced batteries in both. I turned off the wii and held down the sync button in order to re-sync the remotes. I even re-synced the 2nd remote to be first player to make sure they were both working. But WHATEVER i try i simply can't get the 2nd player to join in the game on the join in screen. It simply says ''press +'' to join. But pressing that does nothing.I have no problem joining both remotes in for wii sports so what gives here?Can't get the 2nd wii remote to connect ...

The home button on the 2nd remote doesn't do anything because it isn't connected.Do you mean do that on the first remote?
