or how did they come up with the name Wii , someone asked me this yesterday and i have no idea? What does it stand for?
It means nothing. They wanted a catchy name like iPod that wouldn't scare away casual gamers. It worked. Nintendo thought a name like ''Revolution'' would keep a lot of new gamers away.
Yeah, it doesn't mean anything.
Wii as in WE. Playing with friends and stuff. Weeeiiiiiiii would like to play get it!
How about what's the meaning of the 360 of Xbox 360?Wii means nothing.
Wicked Insane Interactivity?
actually i can tell you what the 360 in xbox 360 means. firstly they didnt want sony to have a 3 behind their name and microsoft to have a 2 due to the fact people would think the xbox would than be a inferior machine. secondly 360 as in it is an all in one machine. it can do everything. it includes every part of your life. hope that helps. but as for wii i was reading a japanese article and from what i got out of it it just means we as in us or whatever you prefer.
Wii = WeIf they name it Nintendo We, do you think it's ridiculous?
This should help:http://www.gamespot.com/news/6148462.html
Wii as in WE. Playing with friends and stuff. Weeeiiiiiiii would like to play get it!
i have to agree with you. That was the way they advertised it. When N was ask about why ''wii'' there are answer was something like that. Even on one of the conference (launch or E3 before lauch or when they said it was wii instead of Rev) they keep talking like: WE (Wii) the gamers, WE blhablha...imo ::PEDIT: oh... I did not saw Rocky post... well yea... on his link it said it, Wii=We :P
How about what's the meaning of the 360 of Xbox 360?Wii means nothing.
It's called the 360 because when you see it you turn 360 degrees and moonwalk away :)As the users above mentioned, Nintendo needed a name that would be suitable for the mass. Which sounds better?''Hey want to play on the Revolution?'' *awkward*''Hey want to play on the Wii?'' *happy*Wii=We Wii=WEEEE!
Just ''Wii''. It's simple so as to be pronounceable/spellable in many different lanaguges.
