Why does Paper Mario have to be made of ...

Topic. I don't get it...even if it their supposed to be RPG games. I remember renting the first one on the N64, but I hardly remember anything of what it was about. But now I think about it and I'm wondering why the characters have to be made of paper. Why not the regular 3d characters? Maybe if I understand why, then I would get Super Paper Mario...Why does Paper Mario have to be made of ...
I don't know, maybe because it's supposed to take place in a story book? Why does Paper Mario have to be made of ...
Because if he weren't, he wouldn't be Paper Mario. He'd be something else, like Tofu Mario.
cause he's cute and foldy
Because Paper Mario's awesome, thats why and yes if it was for him not being paperhe wouldn't be able to go paper thin or turn into an aeroplane or anything which he all needed in the GC one.
I would guess because Square did mario RPG but since Intelligent Systems was making the next one, Paper Mario for n64, they probably understood they had the make their product different enough from what SE did. It is sort of has to do with making the game appealing too, I mean think about, Japan bows down to SE rpgs and no other company really matches them in Japan's eyes. If Intelligent Systems had made just a cut and dry rpg game with Mario, without adding the new interesting Paper idea, many people would have probably blown it off because they would see it as an inferior product compared to what Square had done. So by adding something interesting like the Paper effect, they obtain more people's interest.
cause he's cute and foldy
Yeah, makes a cute game, and makes for different gameplay...
They ran out of ideas?
they should amke Plastic Luigi!
Why is a plumber stomping on turtles, eating wild mushrooms from debris or blocks, never considers public transport to get to his destination, and is affected by the slight touch of the common goomba, but the withstand 50 feet of butt-stomping action and head banging? What am I getting at? Who bloody cares. The game might as well play as a panda on steroids who needs to eat boxes to save a dying planet from being obliterated by sleeping fish.
Its just a theme..And from what im understanding, you are not going to buy Super Paper Mario just because you dont know why its called that way?
It's something different. We see the classic 3D Mario in the other games.
It seemed like a good idea at the time. Unlike most things that you can say that about though, this one was still a good idea once you woke up and vomited for a while, and then went to Denny's for an All-American Slam.
I think the paper concept is a very stylish, original, and unique theme. They really do a good job with the whole paper concept as well. For example in Paper Mario 2 the way you can transform into a paper airplane, turn into a paper sailboat, turn sideways to enter extremely thin areas.
When it came out... I initially thought it was to make the game 'bigger'... you know, give more space to add more content.

I had this opinion back then because I - like you now - thought the game could have been done using regular old graphics. They didn't have scissors as a death cause, fire didn't burn you, we couldn't lay flat on the ground to avoid things, water didn't act as water would to paper, etc.

I don't know if that's the case, but who cares... it works. Although SPM is nothing in comparison to the other Paper or the Mario and Luigi series.

Cuz Shiggy wanted Paper Mario to be something different and new from Super Mario RPG for the SNES.

If think they should go back to 3D characters again.
Because he was drawn on paper.
So he was easily killed by fire.

Mario is paper because:1.) it's easy to gwet away with in terms of graphics2.) they use the ''paper'' for stuff like the paper airplane and such, wich i think is great3.) Its been going on since the N64 and everybody likes it.I think its a good idea. But what about luigi.VIVA LA PLASTIC LUIGI!
